
CRITERIA FOR THE EMPLOYER
- Your job offer must contain caregiving duties for a child, a senior or disabled person.
- You may be asked to declare that you can provide the wages, benefits and working conditions required by the Ontario labour laws. The offered wage must be comparable to Canadian live-in caregivers based on labour market information.
- Advertisement(s) must be attempted to find a qualified caregiver in Canada before applying for a live-in caregiver (This will be taken care of by Helping Hands Caregiver Services).
- You must offer full time employment, and two employers may not share the services of the same nanny.
- You and your prospective employee are legally required to have a signed contract. The caregiver's responsibilities should be set out in the contract to ensure that your employee is aware of the conditions of employment you are offering.
- You must also provide accommodation that ensures privacy, such as a private room with a lock on the door. Your caregiver pays rent for a room in your home and is entitled to privacy.
